The Siprit of Independence & My Indonesia Blog List

Today, August 17th, is Indonesia Independent Days. To all Indonesian people especially blogger, I wanna say:

Happy Birthday INDONESIA

Dirgahayu Indonesia ke-63

Indonesia is the world's largest archipelago states (17,508 islands), the world's 4th most populous country (234 millions), and the most populous Muslim-majority nation. It's located in the South East Asia, with Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam, the Philippines, Australia, Papua New Guinea and East Timor as neighbors. It was colonized by the Dutch for over 350 years, several years by the Brits, and 3 years by the Japanese, before it declared its independence in 1945.

Indonesia is a republic, with an elected parliament and president. The first President was Bapak Sukarno and the current President is Bapak Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono. The nation's capital city is Jakarta.

Across its many islands, Indonesia consists of distinct ethnic, linguistic, and religious groups. Indonesia consists of 33 provinces, five of which have special status. Each province has its own political legislature and governor.
The Javanese are the largest and most politically dominant ethnic group. As a unitary state and a nation, Indonesia has developed a shared identity defined by a national language, a majority Muslim population, and a history of colonialism and rebellion against it.

Despite its large population and densely populated regions, Indonesia has vast areas of wilderness that support the world's second highest level of biodiversity. The country is richly endowed with natural resources, yet poverty is a defining feature of contemporary Indonesia.

Congrats to Markis Kido and Hendra Setiawan gave Indonesia its first gold medal of the Olympics on Saturday, defeating China’s Cai Yun and Fu Haifeng in the badminton men’s doubles final.
This is the best birthday present for Indonesian.

"INDONESIA BISA'

To celebrate this special day, I have simple project. For the next 1 year I want to list down all the active blog in Indonesian at my simple blog Indonesia Blog List. To all Indonesian Blogger you are invited to register your blog here.

The Spirit of Bono from Riau, Indonesia & Tagging

Do you know what is the meaning of BONORIAU?

Bono is a Big Wave and Riau is one of the Province in Indonesia.

Bono is a kind of natural phenomenon which amaze. When the tide go to upstream of the river, the water will swell up with a big wave. The hight of the wave is about 6 metres. According to one of the tales, it is said that Bono in Kuala Kampar is the male couple of female Bono which is in the Rokan river.

This Bono will get angry in the early days of the month, precisely when the high tide is up. When the tide is over, the Bono also disappears. No body knows where it is gone. Bono usually emerges between the day 10 until 20 of Hijriyah months.

This amazing event is started with whirr sound seems like the storm will go down. By the society around Kuala Kampar(one of the District in Riau), Bono is an ordinary event that they have known since their childhood. It is not strange if the young and old people over there assume that Bono is as more than playing arena to test their agility of boating and it is not something that must be avoided. This Bono can be seen in Teluk Meranti village, Kuala Kampar.

I'm really hope that one day BONORIAU will be famous like the real BONO in Kuala Kampar, Riau. Bonoriau will be famous not just in Riau but in the world!!!

Alakazam!!!! Thanks to Mariuca and the other side of emila for tagging The Genies Return to Bonoriau.

Crisis of Confidence

ASEAN's failure in responding to the economic crisis, the environmental hazard caused by haze and the rampage in Myanmar have all done severe damage to ASEAN in the past, this despite the organization's reputation as one of the most successful regional outfits, second to European Union. Now, Asean's facing internal problem from one to another.

1. INDONESIAN'S judicial system is in the grip of a spreading corruption scandal. Investigators from the Corruption Eradication Commission have confiscated documents from the Supreme Court in their search for evidence. The recent allegations against top institutions in the country's judicial and law enforcement branches have shocked Indonesian and led to mounting calls for Attorney General Hendarman Supandi to resign.
2. MALAYSIAN Prime Minister Abdullah Badawi faces his bigger crisis yet, after a small member party of the Barisan Nasional (BN) yesterday said it had lost confidence in his leadership. The Chinese-based Sabah Progressive Party says it will table a no-confidence vote against him in Parliment, or support one table by the opposition. It will be the first time a no-confidence motion is being attempted against a Prime Minister by his own party.3. THAILAND opposition Democrat Party yesterday filed a censure motion against Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej and seven other ministers. The move amounts to no-confidence motion which, if passed, could bring down the six-party ruling coalition.

The Real Indonesian Spirit

Angry protests as Indonesia hikes fuel prices.

Indonesian motorists are now paying 33.3 percent more to fill their tanks with premium gasoline at 6,000 rupiah (65 cents) a litre, while diesel fuel for transportation has leapt 27.9 percent to 5,500 rupiah.

Goverment hands out cash to the poor to soften the blow of 30 per
cent rise in fuel prices

Indonesia is handing out US$1.5 billion (Rp14.1 trillion) in cash to its poorest residents to soften the blow of big fuel price rises a move that might bring the government short-term relief after weeks of protests.

The last fuel price rise in Indonesia was a whopping 126 percent in 2005, sparking mass demonstrations but no long-term unrest.

Analysts welcomed the rises and said other Asian would have to follow suit or watch their budgets break under the weight of massive fuel subsidies.

Taiwan's new government has decided to end a freeze on domestic gasoline prices from June, while Malaysia is reportedly looking at making wealthy consumers pay more for fuel under a new two-tier subsidy system.

Even regional giant India is reeling from the oil price onslaught, with the petroleum secretary admitting Friday that a fuel price hike was "inevitable" to bail out state oil firms selling at hugely discounted rates.

"I think this move is positive for Indonesia in terms of its fiscal position, It looks like that's where most governments are heading right now." Royal Bank of Scotland economist Euben Paracuelles said in Singapore on Friday.

Kebangkitan Nasional, Sunyi Pengorbanan!!

Setiap upaya pembebasan memerlukan latihan kesunyian pastoral.

BANGKIT LAH ANAK BANGSA KU!!!
