One Planet Living

The Earth is at a critical point where the decisions and actions taken by one species - ours - will determine the future of all life.
In order to survive and prosper, we must urgently change our course. We must ensure a healthy planet where people and nature thrive in a stable environment, now and for generations to come. Millions of people are already feeling the consequences. Around the world, in rich and poor countries alike, people are facing uncertainties over food security and water availability, and increased vulnerability to natural disasters and diseases.

The only way to ensure this is to preserve biodiversity, the places they live, and reduce humanity’s impact - our footprint - on their natural habitats. This work must start right now.

MUSIC MONDAY - Winter Sonata - From Beginning to End

A South Korean housewife on Saturday broke a world record in marathon singing after crooning for more than 76 hours without stopping at a Seoul karaoke bar, local record verifiers said.

Kim Sun-Ok, 54, broke the 75-hour Guinness World Record held by Marcus Lapratt of the United States, the private Korea Record Institute said.

She started singing at 11:14 am Thursday (0214 GMT) and sang a total of 1,283 tunes before she gave up at 3:21 pm Saturday following her family's appeal for her to quit for the sake of her health, it said.

Under Guinness World Record regulations, she was given 30-second breaks between songs and five-minute breaks every hour. She was also barred from singing any song she had already sung less than four hours earlier, it said.

To celebrate her success so I choose Korean song for my MM which my Malaysian friend told me that his wife really crazy and love this drama.

Virtual Catfight (The lost of spirit of Blogging)

Emmmm this is interesting news from Singapore, a lot of things we can learn from this :

The bad blood between the two beautiful queen of local blogosphere has come to a boil. Last Friday, Wendy Cheng, received a letter from lawyer of fellow blogger Dawn Yang. Ms. Yang ask Ms. Cheng to make public apology for alleged defamatory remarks she made against Ms. Yang, and to propose a settlement for the damages. Wooow how much she will propose yeee!!!

Ms. Cheng blog gets about 50,000 hits daily while Ms. Yang's gets 30,000...wooow not bad. The simmering discord between them can be traced back to November 2006. The two were compared in an online forum's "hottest bloggers" ranking and have been making comments about each other on their blogs since.

Some of the other Singaporean bloggers comments :

1. Probably to enhance their site traffic and attention.
2. Is not good for the blogging society

3. Blogger should focus on issues not people and personality.

For me very simple, ask myself Why Do We Blog? Of course for fun, looking for new friends but not enemy .... How about YOU???

Latest Update : Ms. Cheng says Ms. Yang can go ahead and sue her. She is not apologizing.

Spirit of Blogging & Traveling

I always like to see beautiful scenery of places around the world. Beautiful sea in a big world.

Imagine standing on at the beach ruins yourself overlooking the Seal Rocks in the distance and appreciate how wonderful is the world....save the world.

News from CNN :

The fear is that melting ice from Greenland and other Arctic areas could cause sea levels to rise enough to flood low-lying cities, such as Shanghai, China, and New York City, displacing millions of people in the process.

A recent report from the U.N.'s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, made up of scientists from around the world, estimates the sea level rise by 2100 could be as much as 1½ feet.

Crisis of Confidence

ASEAN's failure in responding to the economic crisis, the environmental hazard caused by haze and the rampage in Myanmar have all done severe damage to ASEAN in the past, this despite the organization's reputation as one of the most successful regional outfits, second to European Union. Now, Asean's facing internal problem from one to another.

1. INDONESIAN'S judicial system is in the grip of a spreading corruption scandal. Investigators from the Corruption Eradication Commission have confiscated documents from the Supreme Court in their search for evidence. The recent allegations against top institutions in the country's judicial and law enforcement branches have shocked Indonesian and led to mounting calls for Attorney General Hendarman Supandi to resign.
2. MALAYSIAN Prime Minister Abdullah Badawi faces his bigger crisis yet, after a small member party of the Barisan Nasional (BN) yesterday said it had lost confidence in his leadership. The Chinese-based Sabah Progressive Party says it will table a no-confidence vote against him in Parliment, or support one table by the opposition. It will be the first time a no-confidence motion is being attempted against a Prime Minister by his own party.3. THAILAND opposition Democrat Party yesterday filed a censure motion against Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej and seven other ministers. The move amounts to no-confidence motion which, if passed, could bring down the six-party ruling coalition.

Are we really the TERRORIST???

The advertisement posted in the British Defence Ministry's website which portrays Malays as terrorists shows a leader of a terrorist group, who is a Malay, firing into the air and said "Akulah orang yang paling jahat dalam dunia ini. Mari lawan aku. Aku akan bunuh semua' (I'm the most evil man in the world. Come fight me. I shall kill all of you)." The British High Commission has agreed to withdraw an advertisement.

Oil "Super-Spike"

Oil futures hit an all-time high near $121 a barrel in Asian trade Tuesday on worries about threats to supply and a weakening of the U.S. dollar.

`The possibility of $150-$200 per barrel seems increasingly likely over the next six-24 months, though predicting the ultimate peak in oil prices as well as the remaining duration of the upcycle remains a major uncertainty,'' the Goldman analysts wrote in the report dated May 5.

The price of crude traded in New York averaged $16.70 a barrel on Nov. 19, 2001,
$56.71 in 2005, $66.23 in 2006 and $72.36 in 2007. Oil rose to an intraday record $120.93 today on speculation demand will rise during the peak U.S. summer driving season.

Prices are also poised to gain as major oil-exporting countries restrict foreign investments, limiting supply growth, while demand from developing countries, or ``non-OECD'' nations is rising on economic expansion and power shortages, prompting higher demand for gasoil and fuel oil, the Goldman analysts said.

Ohhh GOD!!! I have to change my lifestyle otherwise I'll be in deep trouble. Di Indonesia harga BBM (Oil) akan di naikkan. Pak Yusof Kala bilang anggaran 30% naik. Everybody already make noise and some politician see this as opportunity to WIN in the election. Politician PLEASE don't promise that YOU can reduce the BBM price just to win the election. The price is beyond your control. We have to come out with creative and CRAZY ideas (Idea Gila-Gila) untuk hidup dengan perubahan Global sekarang. Wake Up!! Wake up!! ALL POLITICIAN the price will not reduce don't ever promise what you cann't do.

World Food Crisis

Should we be surprised that despair often turns into violence? The food crisis afflicts the world's poor -- in Africa, South Asia and the Middle East -- like a biblical plague. Prices for staples like rice, corn and wheat, which were relatively stable for years, have skyrocketed by over 180 percent in the last three years. A bottleneck is developing whose consequences are potentially more severe than the global crisis in the financial markets. With nothing left to lose, people on the brink of starvation are more likely to react with boundless fury.

Food is become increasingly scarce and expensive, and it is already unaffordable for many people.
Around the world, rising food prices have made basic staples like rice and corn unaffordable for many people, pushing the poor to the barricades because they can no longer get enough to eat.

There are several reasons for the food crisis:

  • The world population is growing constantly, while the amount of arable land is declining.
  • Climate change is causing a loss of agricultural land, irreversible in some cases, as a result of droughts, floods, storms and erosion.
  • Because of changing eating habits, more and more arable land and virgin forests are being turned into pasture for livestock. The yield per acre in calories of land given over to pasture is substantially lower than that of arable land.
  • The World Bank wants developing countries to introduce market reforms, including the abolition of protective tariffs, a move that often causes massive damage to local agriculture.
  • Speculators are driving up the prices of raw materials. The resulting high oil price leads to "energy crops" being cultivated instead of grain for food or animal feed.
  • Millions of people displaced by civil wars need food, and yet they themselves are no longer capable of producing food.
What we are beginning to face is not just an acute bottleneck, but a worldwide, fundamental food crisis. It affects most of all the poor, who spend a disproportionately large share of their income on food and water. The crisis is so dire that it is obliterating any progress made in recent years in fighting disease and starvation. But the worst is yet to come.

What will happen to our NEXT GENERATION!!!!!!!
Who has to be BLAME??
What is our contribution??

The Spirit of Oil & Gold price

Gold futures hit $1,020 an ounce for the first time. The sinking dollar and record crude oil prices have gold skyrocketing. Crude hit a record $110.70 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange after earlier rising to a new trading record of $111. Until the Feds get inflation under control Gold and Oil are going nowhere but up from here.

The global market crash ....

What do we get from this?

Most of us become poorest and some of them become richest and richest...
